'Pure rooms' arrive as new trend

As the popularity of healing therapies continues, the next-in-line may well be the “purifying” experience.

Last month, the Grand Hyatt Seoul introduced a total of 38 hypo-allergenic rooms, called “pure rooms,” designed to offer guests a pure experience.

In collaboration with Pure Solutions Korea, the hotel cleans such rooms every day in a special routine that eliminates up to 98 percent of airborne viruses and bacteria in addition to pollens and other irritants typically found in indoor environments.

The 38 rooms have state-of-the-art air purification systems, as part of a seven-step process that reduces airborne particles to do away with potential irritants. As a result, the Pure Rooms’ air is said to be 10 times purer than the air outside on average in terms of particulate count.

The hotel, which is located atop scenic Mt. Nam in central Seoul, said the new-concept rooms are perfect for those who have asthma, allergies and other respiratory sensitivities.

It noted that the purpose of launching Pure Rooms in Korea for the first time in Asia is due to the health-conscious Korean market’s keen appetite for the latest trends and an eye for innovation.

It added that Korea’s interest in the latest fashion, beauty and food trends makes a global trendsetter and Koreans are very aware of and sensitive to health and hygiene issues.

“Pure rooms will set a new standard of service that we are proud to offer our guests. We are delighted to be able to create a unique clean air environment without sacrificing the comfort level of our guests,” Grand Hyatt Seoul President Peter Walshaw said in a statement.

Other leading hotels in Seoul also have pure rooms available. The Grand Hilton Seoul offers two new allergy-free pure rooms in each room type, so guests can have the option to select the service according to their health needs. The Conrad in Seoul also offers 34 pure rooms.
