Spa guests at the Grand Hyatt Seoul will be able to enjoy luxurious and effective skin care products from June Jacobs, the famous American spa brand, starting December.
The Spa Grand Hyatt Seoul announced the launch of a collaboration with June Jacobs Spa Collection, offering four new treatments prepared exclusively for Hyatt spas around the world.
Using only natural plant extracts, June Jacobs’ products are free of parabens, preservatives, synthetic dyes and fragrance, sulfates and petrochemicals.
“In our products we have a patent-pending blend of six antioxidants _ red tea, white tea, green tea, goji berry, grape seed extract and pomegranate extract,” said Rochelle Jacobs, co-creator and president of the company, in an interview with The Korea Times, Nov.5.
She visited the hotel to teach therapists of the spa the intricacies of the new treatments and special characteristics of the products. June Jacobs is her mother who started the brand, and they work as a mother-daughter team in New York.
“Every product now from shampoo to cuticle cream, from head to toe, has the blend in it. The blend pumps in the antioxidants, so that people’s skin will be able to take in the product and fight free radical damage much better than any other products we have had before,” she said.
She said each of the six antioxidants is good individually but the soothing and restorative effects become much better when mixed.

Four treatments are available from June Jacobs collections: 60 or 90 minutes each for facial or body treatments.
The facial treatment was designed to nourish and revitalize all skin types. It maximizes the ability of the skin to generate new cells, enhances moisture retention and counteracts signs of environmental damage. The 90-minute treatment adds collagen face and eye masques to the provisions of the 60-minute one.
The body treatment, designed to counteract the signs of aging, has a unique opening ritual: the therapist has the guest breathe in the smell of lavender aromatherapy oil. Jacobs said if the guest has the oil at home and smells the scent again, it brings the guest back to the state of relaxation which he or she experienced at the spa.
The Papaya Purifying Enzyme Masque is rubbed on the body then the whole body is enveloped in a special type of paper to keep it warm. The Lemon Sugar Body Polish is then applied for exfoliation. After washing off the polish, different creams are applied on different parts of the body ― one for the cuticle, one for the hand and foot, and another one for the body.
Sue Yoon, spa and fitness director of the hotel, said, “For body moisturizing, June Jacobs doesn’t use one cream but different creams for the body, hands and feet, and cuticles, to provide perfect care for each part.”
Jacobs said the collaboration with Hyatt Hotels Corp. came because the two companies have the same goal _ providing the same quality of services at any of their outlets.
“We learned that people who go to Hyatt in Korea would also go to Hyatt Hong Kong and Hyatt New York. So we want the experience to be something that you expect, because we believe, in our products, you expect a certain level of quality. Every time you enjoy an experience, it has to be the same no matter where it is and who’s doing it.”
June Jacobs’ products are also offered as in-room amenities at 25 Grand Hyatt hotels across the world, not the Seoul one though. “We believe having the spa experience starting at the room level draws people into the spa,” she said.
Designed by world-renowned architect and designer John Morford, the Grand Hyatt Seoul’s spa features 14 suites, each of which features a private shower a toilet, and a dry grooming area.
Additionally there are four massage rooms, six treatment rooms, two customized Vichy treatment rooms with a built-in shower system, a foot massage room and a Couple’s Suite.
Besides the June Jacobs treatments, the spa offers various traditional Korean remedies using ginseng and European aromatherapies. It also has a Spa Concierge where the staff is ready to develop individually tailored treatments.
