Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel

The Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel has received the Best New Business Hotel in Asia-Pacific Award from Business Traveller Asia-Pacific, a leading travel magazine. The award ceremony was held in Hong Kong on Sept. 28.

It is the first time for a hotel in Korea to receive the award, reflecting the outstanding results for the hotel just one year since its September opening last year. “Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Sheraton brand, the Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel will continue to reach out with genuine care and achieve a higher service standard for the guests,” said the hotel’s general manager David Cuddon.

Sheraton Grande Walkerhill

The Sheraton Grande Walkerhill’s two restaurants offer “Dishes for Autumn Gastronomy.”

Korean restaurant Myongwolgwan has created steamed rice in a lotus leaf, a healthy, Buddhist-style dish that is known to be good for those with high blood pressure and diabetes. The menu is available through Nov. 30 for 39,000 won. For more information, call (02) 450-4595.

At Japanese eatery Kiyomizu, experts in Kyoto cuisine present an autumn “kaiseki” menu, including a pine mushroom mugwort salad, grilled eel and sushi with persimmon leaves. The menu is on offer until Oct. 31 for 100,000 won. For inquiries, call (02) 450-4599.

Mayfield Hotel & Resort

Buffet restaurant Michelin at the Mayfield Hotel & Resort offers seafood promotion “Under the Sea” through the end of October.

Some 20 types of seafood will be prepared, including grilled prawn, shrimp and gizzard shad, and grilled pen shell in orange sauce. Salad menus are also available, including a fig salad, Indonesian-style tofu salad and Thai-style seafood salad.

Lunch on weekdays is 42,000 won and dinner, 48,000 won. On weekends, both lunch and dinner cost 53,000 won. The restaurant will also offer a meal vouchers for two people for those who post their dining experience on the hotel’s official blog at blog.naver.com/mayfield2002. InterContinental Seoul COEX

The Lobby Lounge at the InterContinental Seoul COEX offers a fruit dessert buffet every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

It will offer an array of fruit-flavored macaroons, persimmon panna cotta and banana creme brulee, along with not only tea or coffee but also unique drinks including melon and mango smoothies, fruit cocktails, aloe and ginseng cocktails.

The buffet is priced at 30,000 won, 17,000 won for cocktails or smoothies, and for both buffet and drinks, it costs 43,000 won. The lounge will continue to provide dessert buffets with different items each season. For inquiries, call (02) 3430-8603.

Novotel Ambassador Gangnam

The Novotel Ambassador Gangnam has appointed new area chef Patrice Guibert, a French culinary expert.

Having previous experience at the hotel between 1997 and 2001 as executive chef, Guibert will supervise the kitchens of not only the Novotel Ambassador Gangnam but also the Grand Ambassador Seoul and Novotel Ambassador Doksan.

With 37 years in the industry, the former Michelin star-winning chef has worked at several Michelin star restaurants in Lyon and Paris. During his previous stay at the Novotel Ambassador Gangnam, the hotel was selected as the First Hotel of Seoul in 1998 for the year’s food, value and facilities by Travelers Magazine.
