Standford Hotel Seoul

The Standford Hotel Seoul has started operating here in the Digital Media City in Sangam-dong, northwestern Seoul, with an opening ceremony taking place Wednesday.

In the 12-story building, the four-star business hotel has 239 guestrooms along with various sized conference rooms and a grand ballroom that can hold 300 guests. The restaurant, Cafe Standford, offers a buffet, while a large-sized fitness club is available.

The hotel is 20 minutes away from Kintex exhibition center or Gimpo airport, and about 30 minutes away from Incheon International Airport.

Hotel officials said they aim to have 35 hotels around the world within 10 years, making Standford the center of the world’s business hotel industry. Besides the Seoul hotel, Hotel Standford Group operates four properties in New York, Panama, Chile and Saipan. For more information, call 02-6016-0001.

Lotte Hotel Seoul

Pierre Gagnaire a Seoul, Lotte Hotel Seoul’s French restaurant run by star chef Pierre Gagnaire, ranked eighth in Asia’s top 20 restaurants and Korea’s best restaurant in the 2011/2012 edition of the Miele Guide.

It is the first restaurant in Korea to be listed in the guide’s top 20 restaurants in Asia.

The restaurant has been recognized for successful localization of dishes, using local ingredients to create Gagnaire’s unique style and taste, and delivery of Parisian dining service.

Besides Pierre Gagnaire a Seoul, the hotel’s two other restaurants ― Momoyama and Mugunghwa ― were also selected among Korea’s top five restaurants.

Grand Hyatt Seoul

The Paris Grill at Grand Hyatt Seoul presents a Grand Dinner with Moet & Chandon, specially created by Moet & Chandon’s house chef Pascal Tingaud, from Nov. 11 to 27.

The dinner was designed for a perfect pairing of gourmet cuisine with some of the world’s finest champagnes. It will feature a five-course menu, including sable parmesan, cappuccino of sea urchin, Carantec lobster, sea bass rolls, Creekstone beef tenderloin Rossini and fig millefeuille.

The dinner is available from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The price for the five-course menu is 110,000 won and with the pairing of champagnes, 220,000 won. For more information, call 02-799-8161.

Grand Ambassador Seoul

Buffet restaurant The King’s at Grand Ambassador Seoul offers French style Christmas cuisine titled “Savor French Christmas” during November and December.

Featuring authentic French dishes for the year-end holiday, the promotion introduces a turkey carving station to offer festive ambience. Special dishes include turkey and foie gras chestnut terrine, duck in orange sauce with honey, aumoniere of scallops with leek fondue, roasted chicken with cider, oyster with champagne sabayon and blue cheese with shallots.

Also available is closet-style dessert corner featuring assorted nuts, Christmas pudding, and Gugelhof. Lunch is priced at 58,000 won and dinner, 65,000 won. For more information, call 02-2270-3121.

The Plaza

French premium bakery Eric Kayser will open a Gangnam branch in Galleria Department Store’s west wing on Nov. 16.

To commemorate the opening, the bakery will feature many new products including cakes, tarts, cookies and more. In addition to baked goods, it will sell various homemade salads, cheese, olive oil and balsamic vinegar that will go well with its breads.
