Enjoy family month at hotels

May is called “family month” as Children’s Day, Parents’ Day and Teacher’s Day are all in it.

It is a headache to find the right presents for the special days. Hotels here offer various packages and programs which will delight all family members.

The Sheraton Grande Walkerhill suggests packages combining “The Legend of Flower,” the hotel’s show featuring an all-original Korean performance.

The package includes a one-night stay in a deluxe room, breakfast buffet at The View and two tickets to the show, with the price starting from 252,000 won.

The Legend I package adds dinner during the show to the package at 328,000 won. For those wanting a stay in a Club deluxe room and have breakfast at the Club Lounge, the Legend II package is available at 386,000 won.

For parents who want to give their children a valuable experience, fun-packed and educational the Little Hotelier package is the choice.

Child guests will experience the life of a hotelier by participating in general hotel duties at the door, the bell desk and the front desk and learn the basics of housekeeping duties.

A hotel tour including a visit to the general manager’s office, chefs’ kitchen and R&D center will give them knowledge of behind-the-scenes hotel operations.

During the two-day package, dinner for three will be offered on the first day where children can learn table etiquette, while during the buffet breakfast, they can take part in special cooking classes.

The Imperial Palace Hotel presents the Gift for Family package, which includes a one-night stay at a deluxe room, breakfast buffet for two at Cafe Amiga, a box of cookies and board game rental.

The package is available through June 30, except between May 23 and 28, at 239,000 won.

In another promotion, the hotel’s Chinese restaurant Cheon-San offers sets of chopstick to customers ordering promotional menus during May. On Parents’ Day (May 8), every table of four with parents dining will receive complimentary “buldojang,” a Chinese tonic soup, and a basket of carnations.

The Park Hyatt Seoul’s Park Club introduces spa gift certificates, which offer many spa offerings.

Some of the special treatments include 70-minute facials at 170,000 won, 100-minute facials at between 205,000 won and 220,000 won, 70-minute aromatic body treatments or body exfoliation at 160,000 won, and 120-minute special organic package at 290,000 won.

The Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas and InterContinental Seoul COEX offer room packages in conjunction with the family musical “Youth March” until June 26.

The package includes two R-seat tickets to the musical worth 120,000 won each, free Internet use and access to the fitness center, swimming pool and golf range, and extended checkout to 2 p.m.

It is priced at 285,000 won for a deluxe room, 325,000 won for a junior suite and 395,000 won for a breakfast-included Club Junior Suite at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas. At the InterContinental Seoul COEX, packages with superior rooms are 255,000 won, and breakfast-included Club Rooms 325,000 won.

The JW Marriott Seoul presents a Spring Picnic package for a family outing through June 26. It features a picnic lunchbox for two people, consisting of two ham and cheese sandwiches with two bottles of Vitamin Water.

The hotel provides guests with walkway maps for nearby Seoripul Park, which is connected to Bangbae Station by a central pedestrian overpass. A rest area, special road to walk barefoot, and Montmartre Park overlooking Seorae Village are also in the vicinity. The package is available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at 229,000 won. The Ritz-Carlton Seoul has opened the outdoor terrace of its European restaurant The Garden and is holding a special barbecue party through May 8 with visiting Australian chef Chris Taylor.

More than 30 kinds of barbecue, including seafood and meat, as well as 70 different items are offered for BBQ Brunch. Ingredients brought directly from Australia include beef sirloin, lamb, king crab, lobster and prawns.

For dinner through May 31, six types of full course menus are also available. The price for the BBQ set menus is 85,000 won, and that for the outdoor BBQ Sunday Brunch is 65,000 won, available between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. For more information call 02-3451-8000.

The Grand Hilton Seoul offers the Happy Family package that includes a one-night stay in a two-bedroom unit in a Grand Suite, a children’s menu voucher for the Atrium Cafe and two tickets for comedy music show Fantastic.

The Lotte Hotel Seoul’s buffet restaurant La Seine presents a Very Special Culture package to 100 guests on a first-come-first-served basis until May 31.

Priced at 300,000 won the package includes buffet dining for two worth 180,000 won, two VIP seat tickets to the musical “Mozart” worth 260,000 won, one bottle of premium wine worth 150,000 won, and two tickets to Karsh exhibition worth 18,000 won. For more information call 02-317-7171.
