Imperial Palace Hotel

The Imperial Palace Hotel has recently invited Martin Todd Kindleysides from Australia as its new assistant executive chef.

Previously Kindleysides was an executive chef at the Sheraton Hotel and O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat in Perth. In 2007 he was invited to the Kobe Sheraton Hotel in Japan for an Australian food promotion and participated in various events for Australia’s prime minister and other VIP guests.

An acclaimed chef, Kindleysides won the 2007 ACF Salon Culinaire and the Australia Hotels Association Awards in 2007 and 2010.

He plans to present his new culinary creations at the Imperial Palace Hotel based on his diverse background and experience. For more information call 02-3440-8000.

Sheraton Grande Walkerhill

Have a night of fun at the Sheraton Grande Walkerhill’s S.O.U.L party, specially prepared for single ladies and gentlemen.

From 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on April 22, the hotel’s Moroccan-style pub Sirocco will be decked out with good music and food to enjoy with an entrance fee of 60,000 won that includes a welcome drink, unlimited draft beer and a tapas buffet.

The price goes down for those who attend in larger groups ― 10 percent discount for two female guests, 25 percent for four female guests, and 10 percent for a group of 10 or more guests regardless of gender. For more information call 02-450-4567.

The Westin Chosun

The Westin Chosun’s buffet restaurant Aria presents “A Feast of Fermented Dishes and Spring Herbs” through April 21.

Fermented foods are linked to good health and a longer lifespan. More than 30 internationally famous fermented dishes are on offer, including kimchi, assorted Korean-style salted seafood, grilled yellow dried pollack, Japanese-style salted and fermented squid, natto, Indian-style lassi and a variety of European cheeses.

On weekdays Korean fermented rice wine or “makgeolli,” is available at lunch time. This special health kick is priced at 62,000 won for lunch and 66,000 won for dinner. For more information call 317-0357.

The Grand Hyatt

The Grand Hyatt Seoul’s J.J. Mahoney’s hosts a “Magic Flower Garden Party” from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. on April 22 and 23.

With elaborate decorations in pastel colors evoking a spring garden of beautiful flowers, the party will include exciting events, such as a dance contest, live performance by J.J.’s band Magenta and guest DJs, lucky draws, a welcome drink and more.

The Millennium Seoul Hilton

The Millennium Seoul Hilton’s Italian restaurant Il Ponte presents both a la carte and a special set menu featuring garlic-infused dishes during April.

The dishes in the Garlic Extravaganza include grilled king prawn served with garlic sauce; capsicum and garlic cream soup flavored with thyme; squid ink tagliolini with seafood ragu in saffron sauce; grilled lamb chops and beef tenderloin served with garlic; and marsala sabaion served in French fruit minestrone.
