Hanwha Hotels and Resorts revealed the new name and brand identity of the once Seoul Plaza Hotel with only 90 days left until its re-opening on Nov. 1.
The new name “THE PLAZA” and brand identity as a “boutique business hotel” will be the initial stepping stone, and a variety of marketing tools will be implemented to launch the new hotel with aims to increase the brand value for domestic and international travelers, the hotel said Wednesday.
“THE PLAZA” was derived to represent the traditional and historic quality of the hotel and its geographical location at the heart of Seoul, and to avoid any confusion with the previous name “Seoul Plaza Hotel.” In preparation of the reopening, pre-events will be held through the teaser site (www.hoteltheplaza.com) and Twitter (www.twitter.com/hoteltheplaza).
“THE PLAZA” has undergone an extensive renovation since May 3 of the front exterior, all guest rooms, food and beverage outlets, as well as lobby and public areas.

The Westin Chosun Seoul presents three new suites on the 17th floor in “Korean style” by expressing “the historic aspects of The Westin Chosun Seoul.”
Three top Korean designers, Jung-ju Shim, Shee-young Choi and Um Joo-un participated in this renewal project.
When you walk into the suite, sunlight comes in softly through the folding windows made with hanji (traditional Korean paper). A partition with letter shaped images separates the relaxing bedroom and the living room and the guest can step up onto the relaxation area on a stepping stone, just like the didimdol in a hanok. The relaxing area has a floor finishing touch and the bed is uniquely placed below floor level with artwork of The Ninth Gate engraved on the wall above the bed.
Each new suite is equipped with TVs in the bedroom and bathroom as well as the Westin’s signature Heavenly Bed, Nespresso Coffee Machine, mobile phone with a personal number, wireless LAN with unlimited internet access, iPod speaker and wide desk note PC (48cm) for business convenience. The suites also offer Hermes soap, shampoo, shower gel and lotion. In addition, guests can enjoy the 20th floor Executive Lounge, such as breakfast and cocktail hour and also take advantage of free access to the swimming pool and sauna.
The Renewal Suite designed by Si-young Choi is priced at 2,000,000 won and the Premium Junior Suites by Joo-un Um and Jung-ju Shim are 1,300,000 won (all of the above prices exclude service charge and tax).
