Icheon Rice Cultural Festival will be held in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, on Oct. 25 to 28.

Icheon is the most famous rice-producing region, and it is said that during the Joseon Kingdom the rice from the region was good enough to be served to the king.

Among the various programs available, the highlight is the making of a 600-meter-long ``garaeddok,'' a roll of rice cake, which is enough to serve every visitor.

A contest to select the ``master of boiled rice'' will also be held. Judges will evaluate the contestants' rice cooking skills, the process, and finally the taste of the rice.

As the name ``Icheon'' is a homonym for the Korean number 2,000, festival organizers will cook 2,000 portions of rice and sell each bowl of rice and other side dishes at 2,000 won.
