A new chapter in fashion royalty began in Paris as Sean Taffin de Givenchy — descendant of the founder of the luxury house Givenchy — married a Korean woman, Jung Da-hye, in a lavish ceremony that drew fascination both in France and Korea.
According to Vogue magazine on Oct. 18 (local time), the couple exchanged vows in August at the historic Basilique Sainte-Clotilde, a neo-Gothic cathedral in Paris. Their Catholic wedding reflected both their shared faith and the family’s long-standing traditions, with the Givenchy clan’s prominent figures in attendance.
Celebrations continued over three days, from Aug. 28 to 30, with an opulent series of events blending French aristocratic charm and Korean sophistication.
Taffin, who works as a senior commercial finance analyst at Christie’s, said the couple wanted to have a Mass ceremony as they both grew up Catholic. The cathedral is near his family’s neighborhood and has hosted many important occasions for the family, according to Taffin.
The couple’s story began in 2018 at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, where they met during freshman orientation. Taffin recalled that Jung was volunteering for the event, helping with coat check and ticketing. He didn’t approach her at first, but the next time they met, their friends introduced them and he got her number, he explained. The two got engaged in New York in February 2024.
Jung, who recently completed her master’s in business administration at Columbia University, now works at Taffin, a jewelry brand run by the groom’s uncle. Their engagement and wedding rings were also designed by Taffin.

Speaking to Vogue, Jung said her dream concept for the wedding was “timeless classicism with a touch of Parisian elegance.” She created more than 100 vision boards to capture her inspiration, which her wedding planner brought to life. Her off-shoulder silk gown, paired with a voluminous pleated cape, was designed by Korean-American designer Andrew Kwon, highlighting her cultural roots in a couture setting.
The Givenchy fashion house, founded in 1952 by Hubert de Givenchy, rose to international fame through its collaboration with actress Audrey Hepburn and later became part of the LVMH group in 1988. The family’s legacy in haute couture and French culture has continued in the decades since — now joined by a new Korean face.
