The Korea Times appoints 41 students as honorary ambassadors

The Korea Times has appointed 41 students from 31 countries as its honorary ambassadors for six months, the English-language newspaper said Thursday.
The newspaper held a kick-off ceremony for The Korea Times Global Supporters at its headquarters in Seoul, Wednesday. A total of 22 college students joined the event to mark their participation in various promotional activities for the newspaper. The remaining 19 students participated in the event via online.
The Korea Times has appointed student ambassadors twice a year since 2021 as an engagement opportunity to strengthen the newspaper's influence while promoting its official events. The students engage in various activities both in person and online, such as the Korean Language Speaking Contest and the “Howdy Korea” YouTube channel, while also creating content across social media platforms until February.
“I am happy to become part of this amazing group,” Sungkyunkwan University student Saidovamirjon said during the event. “I wanted to become one of the newspaper’s Global Supporters since I won its recent Korean Language Speaking Contest.”
Sungkyunkwan University master’s student Mia Martinovic said she will promote Korea in her home country, Croatia.
“There isn't much information available about Korea in Croatia,” she said.
“I would like to study a methodology of how to provide various information about Korea to more people. I hope this will be an opportunity.”
This batch of the ambassadors includes students from Vietnam, India, Uzbekistan, Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Canada, Central African Republic, China, Croatia, Egypt, France, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, Myanmar, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Spain, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and the U.S.
“The Global Supporters represents part of future Korea,” Korea Times President-Publisher Oh Young-jin during the ceremony. “I want this to be a great opportunity for your future as well," he added.
