Legendary French singer-songwriter and actor Charles Aznavour died at home on Monday, only a month after he performed in Japan. He was 94.

French President Emmanuel Macron paid tribute on twitter: “Charles Aznavour was profoundly French, deeply attached to his Armenian roots and known throughout the world,” he said. “His masterpieces, the tone of his voice, his unique radiance will long survive him.”

Aznavour sold more than 100 million records in 80 countries. He composed more than 1,000 songs and also appeared in around 70 films. He was sometimes described as the French Sinatra. Among his biggest hits in English was “She,” a 1974 romantic ballad.
