Rev. Lee re-elected Sungkonghoe University president

The board of directors at Sungkonghoe University re-elected Reverend Lee Jeong-ku, 62, as the university’s president last Thursday, a school spokeswoman said Monday.

Lee has been serving as the university’s sixth president since 2012.

Lee began his second term on Monday.

Lee graduated from Hanshin University in 1984 after studying theology. He received his master’s degree in church history from the Graduate School of Theology at Hanshin in 1985.

After that he was ordained a priest for the Anglican Church of the Seoul Diocese in 1987.

He then earned his Ph.D. in architectural theology from the University of Birmingham in the U.K. in 1998.

He has served as a professor of theology at Sungkonghoe University since 1999.

He has also worked as vice-chairman of the board of trustees of the Korea Association Accredited Theological Schools since 2014 and as a member of the board of trustees of the Christian Literature Society of Korea since 2015.

He wrote several religious books. His major works include “A Landscape of Korean Church Architecture and Art” (2009), “An Essay on the Shadow of the Church” (2011), “Architectural Theology in Korea” (2012) and “Icon and Idol” (2012).
