Park Geun-hye's protege to wed on Valentine's Day

Listen

Son Su-jo

By Kim Hyo-jin

Son Su-jo, chairwoman of the Saenuri Party’s council in Sasang-gu, Busan announced Monday that she is to marry on Feb. 14.

The party nominated Son to run for the general elections in Sasang-gu, Busan in 2012. She lost by 13,000 votes to the then strong presidential candidate Moon Jae-in of the main opposition New Politics Alliance for Democracy.

Despite the result of the election, her devout following in the political sphere gave her the nickname of “Little Park Geun-hye.”

The 30-year-old party member is scheduled to tie the knot with an office worker surnamed Kim. He graduated Dong-a High School in Busan and Seoul National University, and now works for an IT company in Seoul.

“I decided to marry him because he understands what I pursue as a politician,” Son said. “I believe I can do my job happily with mutual respect.”
