Singer Yangpa, 32, makes a return after a four-year hiatus with the new mini-album “Elegy Nouveau.”

This year marks the 15th anniversary of her debut as a teenager in 1997. Her first album sold some 800,000 copies, garnering enormous popularity for her soulful and mature vocals. However, at the peak of her popularity, she abruptly left for the United States to study music in 1999.

After her fourth album in 2001, Yangpa stopped her musical activities completely because of a dispute with her management agency and moved to new representation. But as the company’s finances deteriorated she again had to find another agency.

In 2007, after a six-year break Yangpa released her fifth album and now is making another comeback through this latest release.

“Elegy Nouveau” consists of five tracks ― pop-ballad “Hurt Child,” the medium tempo “Wish It Were You,” a duet with B2ST’s Doojoon, “Bon Appetit,” an intricately-layered track “That Time That Person,” and another ballad “Friend.” “Hurt Child” composed by Kim Do-hoon and written by Wheesung is the main song to promote her album.
