G-Dragon Questioned Over Obscenity in Performance
K-pop idol G-Dragon (real name Kwon Ji-yong) was questioned by prosecutors on Thursday night for about an hour over an allegedly obscene performance by the 21-year-old Big Bang member at his solo concert in December.
"G-Dragon arrived at 9 p.m. and was questioned for about an hour," a prosecutor from a Seoul district office said. "The results of the investigation will be available as early as next week."
Prosecutors have been investigating the case following a request from the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs to ascertain whether the singer and his management company YG Entertainment breached laws that ban obscene performances.
Asked whether he intentionally staged an obscene performance, he said he was unaware of any obscenity.
"I didn't know it was obscene," he was quoted as saying by a prosecutor. He also answered that he did not know his song "She's Gone" was banned at concerts as it was black―listed as detrimental to young people.
Prosecutors have no plan to summon him again.
G―Dragon mimicked sexual acts during his concert at Jamsil Gymnasium on Dec. 5 and 6. While singing ``Breathe'' off his first album, G―Dragon performed a few suggestive sexual acts with a female dancer on a bed on stage during the concert, with heavy breathing and moaning coming out of the speakers.
In the following song ``She's Gone,'' a violent background video clip also raised controversy. In the scene, G―Dragon chases a girl and stabs her.
지드래곤 공연음란혐의로 검찰 조사 받아
가수 지드래곤이 지난해 12월 초 있었던 공연과 관련해 검찰의 소환 조사를 받았다.
5일 서울동부지검은 청소년에 유해한 공연을 한 혐의로 지드래곤 (본명 권지용·22)을 4일 소환 조사했다고 밝혔다.
검찰의 한 관계자는 "밤 9시에 도착해 1시간 정도 조사를 받았다''며 ``조사 결과는 빠르면 다음주 초 나올 것''이라고 말했다.
이번 소환은 지드래곤과 YG 엔터테인먼트가 음란공연을 했는지 밝혀달라는 보건복지부의 요청에 따른 것이다.
지드래곤은 조사에서 의도적으로 음란공연을 했느냐는 질문에 음란성에 대해 알지 못했다고 답변한 것으로 알려졌다.
검찰은 지드래곤을 추가로 조사할 계획은 없다고 밝혔다.
지드래곤은 지난해 12월 초 서울 올림픽체조경기장에서 열린 '브리드' (Breathe) 공연에서 여자 댄서와 성행위를 연상시키는 춤을 추고 12세 이상 관람가의 곡을 불러 청소년에게 해로운 영향을 끼친 혐의를 받고 있다.
