Konkuk University Language Institute named professor Min Byoung-chul as its new president Thursday.
Min is one of the best-known TV personas to have gained fame and fortune through his English teaching skills.
"My focus will be combining online and offline methods for the maximum learning effect of foreign languages," said the 59-year-old, who also runs a large nationwide network of English learning institutes.
The institute specializes in English, Japanese and Chinese education.
Min previously taught English at Chung-Ang University before being named to his new post.
He holds a PhD. in education from the University of Northern Illinois and is the chairman of the BCM Educational Group, founded in 1984 to promote conversational English.
Min is also the celebrated author of numerous books introducing practical methods of learning English, making him a household name for Koreans who aim to master the language.
