The Royal Spanish Academy awarded a lifelong membership to Park Chul, president of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), and professor Min Yong-tae of Korea University in recognition of their contribution to the development of the Spanish language in South Korea, HUFS said Thursday.
Their appointment was unanimously endorsed during a general meeting of the academy last week, the school said.
Park, 60, served as an executive of the International Cervantes Association in 2004 and hosted its annual meeting in Seoul. Professor Min, 66, known as an expert in Spanish literature, has published six collections of poems in Spanish.
