The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has acknowledged two Korean captains for acts of bravery at sea.

It selected captain Cha Sanggeun of STX ACE 7 and captain Kim Shin-ho of KMTC Port Kelang as two of 17 recipients of the IMO Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea at the 102nd Council in London, according to the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs Thursday.

The award is given to those performing exceptionally brave acts and displaying outstanding courage at the risk of losing their own life in attempting to save lives at sea or prevent damage to the marine environment.
