Singer Kim Jang-hoon will resume his tour on July 4 after recovering from exhaustion following a collapse on stage during the ``West Coast Festival'' concert Saturday.

According to Kim's agency Haneulso Entertainment, he underwent a thorough medical examination and has just been released from the hospital Monday.

``He will stop all scheduled performances for time being and resume his tour from July 4,'' the agency said.

Known for his numerous philanthropic donations to the underprivileged, Kim shocked the audience when he collapsed in the middle of his performance at the festival in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province. The festival was designed to focus on clearing the oil spill, and the concert was to raise funds to help those affected by it.

His collapse was the result of exhaustion and lack of sleep for the past week as he overworked himself in preparation for the festival.

Kim was immediately taken to a neighboring hospital by ambulance and then transferred to Seoul. Members of punk-rock band No Brain and idol group Super Junior rushed to the hospital to see Kim afterward.

Kim will return to the stage for ``Kim Jang-hoon's One Man Show'' in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province on July 4.

Then, he will also continue to tour for the concert at Kyungsung University in Busan from July 18 -20.

The agency said he wanted to return to the stage as soon as he recovered consciousness at the hospital but the agency stopped him. ``He feels sorry for not finishing the concert to the audience and other fellow singers,'' the agency said

Kim took part in the festival held for the benefit of revitalizing the local economy after an oil spill devastated the region last year.

He has helped out and encouraged volunteers and workers cleaning the oil spill in the west coast through various activities.

The 41-year-old versatile singer has donated 500 million won to the restoration of the Taean oil spill in February.

He drew public attention to his frugal lifestyle while helping out the needy. He puts more emphasis on spending money to help others rather than on his own interests.

Kim donates much of his earnings from concerts, becoming a rare example in Korean society.
