Former Seoul National University (SNU) President Chung Un-chan will be acting as a baseball commentator on radio today.

The Traffic Broadcasting System (TBS) said the 60-year-old Chung has been invited to be the special commentator for the opening game of the Korea Baseball League (KBL) to be held in the Jamsil Baseball Stadium between the Doosan Bears and the Woori Heroes. He will join newscaster Kim Dong-yeon and commentator Lee Byeong-hoon for the opener, which will also be the first baseball game broadcast by the station.

Despite being a huge Doosan Bears fan, Chung said he will do his best to be objective as possible, TBS said.

The former SNU president is known to be an ardent baseball fan by his colleagues and his students. In 2005, he watched a game with some of his students and visits the stadium whenever he has free time. Chung also expressed his desire to write a book about baseball.

Chung was SNU president from 2002 to 2006 and was touted as a presidential candidate in last year's election. Wanting to be remembered as a scholar, Chung is currently a professor in the department of economics at the school.
