The Army has released a theme song sung by the popular girl band the Wonder Girls, Army officials said Thursday.
The production of the ``Army Song'' is part of efforts to promote a young and friendly image to the people, they said.
``We're very pleased to participate in this meaningful work for service members. We hope this song will gain much popularity with the public,'' said Min Sun-ye, lead vocalist of the five-member group.
The group, produced by singer and songwriter Park Jin-young, made its debut in 2007 with their mini-album ``Irony.''
Their second single ``Tell Me'' became a mega hit, reaching the first place on various television and Internet charts.
Because of the song's simple rhythm and dance, an online video craze was sparked as many people copied the dance.
The Army Song with flash animation is available at the Army's official Web site (www.army.mil.kr) and Internet portal sites.
