Moon Hee-jun, 29, singer and former member of the popular group H.O.T., finished his obligatory army service on Nov. 20.
About 300 fans gathered around the Ministry of National Defense to welcome Moon, who held a short interview. He said he will repay his fans, who have waited for him for two years, with good music to make them smile.
Moon debuted in 1996, as a member of boy band H.O.T. Produced by Lee Soo-man, H.O.T. dominated the K-pop charts and won many awards, setting the standard for other K-pop boy groups. However, they disbanded in 2001. Former fellow H.O.T. member, Jang Woo-hyuk, entered a military training camp on Nove. 15 to be gin his 26 months military service.
After H.O.T. split up, Moon released his first solo album ``Alone.'' He later recorded three more albums and a single. He won the Korean Music Awards Singer of the Year in 2003, and the Mnet KM Music Video Awards in 2004 and 2005.
Moon will perform from Dec. 29 to Dec. 31 at Kintex located in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, under the title ``Returns 1996,'' showing his determination to restart his career in music. He will sing a rearranged version of ``Soul,'' `` Wish of a Blue Bird'' and `` Persia Black Hole'' and many more songs.
