The Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) on Monday named former ambassador to the European Union (EU), Oh Haeng-kyum, 60, as its new vice chairman.
Oh previously served as the director general of economic affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and then as minister of the economic section of the Korean Embassy at Washington D.C.
Most recently an ambassador to the EU, Oh, a graduate of Seoul National University, has been noted for his lifelong involvement with diplomatic affairs.
KOIMA officials said the new appointee is well fit for the position at a time when securing global raw materials is crucial.
