Listen

By Janet Shin

Chung Hyeon, a 21-year-old Korean tennis player has made it to the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. He became the first Korean player to advance to this level in a Grand Slam tournament.

The way he plays and how he appears during a post-match interview attracted many fans of not only Korea but worldwide.

When we read the saju of athletes, there is something that obviously matches their type of sport. For instance, the saju of Kim Yuna, the former world champion figure skater, has abundant cold water with metalic items, having her day master as yin water accompanied by two metal elements. Meanwhile almost all saju pillars of Park In-bee, the LPGA golf player and the Olympic gold medalist is filled with lots of earth elements, which may portray the open fields of golf courses. The similarities are found in the saju of soccer players. For example, David Beckham, the English footballer has yang earth day master born in the month of yang earth.

It is interesting to observe how people’s lives unfold by the leading energies in their saju. When it comes to athletes, most of them have a certain strength in their saju with some suggestive signs to imply the instruments of the games and places where they play. Their day masters, month branches and expression stars are the major clues by which we can analyze their specialties.

Chung Hyeon was born with the energy of yang fire as his day master, which represents the sun. Also he was born in the month of yang fire. This suggests his physical and psychological strengths. The other energy that clearly defines his saju are the water elements. These represent his career star and explain accuracy and pithiness. It also demonstrates discipline. It is like much-needed rain during the drought season.

We can notice that his saju has a contrasting energy composition of the water and the fire elements without any mediative energy. This suggests that he would devote his life to one thing during the period of his growth.

Of the wood elements, green could have been a mediative energy to balance the water and fire. I read that he has severely weak eyesight and that tennis was recommended to him in order form him to see as much green as possible. It seems his elements took a good measure of vision therapy.

Another critical factor is that his expression star is placed underneath the day master. It is yang earth element that may represent the tennis court and is well raised by the strong fire energies.

Considering it is still the year of the rooster according to the saju calendar, the zodiac rooster is a god-blessed letter for Chung’s day master. And the coming year, 2018 would emit the energy of vast earth and it will become a milestone year to open the repository of his life house. More chances are to come to this talented young athlete.
