(347) Saju of a college prep student

Listen

By Janet Shin

About this time of every year, the end and the beginning of the year, Korean society goes through a period of important entrance exams both for universities and for jobs. For those involved, it is a critical moment to determine their entire life. Therefore many are looking for any advice to help their decision-making and guidance toward the right course.

I personally do not highly recommend anyone who is under 30 to study saju. In other words, saju study is more pertinent for people who are older than 40 or otherwise with various life experiences and who have been through adversities and hardships. Nevertheless quite a few college students have showed interest in saju study and contacted me about it. In response to most of their approaches, I have tried to decline decently and persuaded them to contact me later on after they finish their regular courses.

About five years ago, a young man enrolled in my saju class, while preparing for his medical school exam. He attended all the saju classes diligently asking various questions about his own saju and future. I sincerely hoped he would continue his studies for medical school.

Looking at his saju, he was born with the energy of yin earth, which is usually portrayed as a field where people grow plants. Having plenty of friend stars, the same element as the day master (earth-yellow), he should be able to utilize the expression star, the element (metal) that is generated by the day master. Also he is strong enough to withstand the restriction of the wood element (green), his career star. He has both the expression and career stars. The penalties among the earth letters imply an inclination toward the properties of professions such as doctors or in Oriental medicine.Last week, I received a message from him for a saju consultation after two years of interruption. It was my great pleasure to hear that he finally passed the entrance exam for an Oriental medicine school and obviously saju study and its reading have influenced this achievement positively. Without an affirmative reading, he might have given up and searched for another path for his career.

However his knowledge star, the fire element (red) is not fully vitalized so he had to wait until it was strengthened by 10 years of luck, which was coming in 2016. The knowledge star stands for the license and certificate for students.

Especially, the field with its environment of metal month requires the support of the sun (byeong fire) and water to nourish his plants. Last year 2016 had the energy of the sun while the water element was being emanated inside its branch.

He remembers that it was forecasted during our saju classes for him to pass the exam. To be more concrete, he was supposed to pass the exam toward the end of 2016 by the additional selection. He was grateful for saju that guided him when he was standing at a crossroads.

I feel I am greatly rewarded as a saju expert when its reading helps someone who doesn’t know what to do in their decision-making or whether they are walking toward the right direction or not.
