(343) Saju of Choi Soon-sil

Listen

By Janet Shin

Why and how has she influenced governmental policy and the absolute power of Korea?

The scandal of Choi Soon-sil involves the allegations of her masterminding the supreme authority of the President of Korea. Can we get more clues by peeping into her saju?

This is an absurd and horrific incident as revealed in a 2007 memo on Wikileaks: “Rumors are rife that the late pastor had complete control over Park’s body and soul during her formative years.” Choi Soon-sil is a daughter of the pastor, Choi Tae-min, and if it turns out to be true, the father and daughter have seized a Korean regime with their incantatory action in this postmodern society.

If anyone confuses saju with these kinds of “shamanistic” practices, the theoretical foundations between the two are thoroughly different. First of all, saju is not associated with the soul even though it may incorporate some inspirational sources. Saju has its rationale from 5,000-year teachings of Asian culture, which is irrelevant to superstition. It is also reported that Choi has met shamans several times in order to conduct the shamanistic ritual called “gut,” and she has changed her name three times, which obviously proves how deeply she was stimulated by superstitious beliefs.

Choi Soon-sil

Choi was born with the energy of yin metal, which is often illustrated as a day master of strong authority. Compared to yang metal, yin metal is more realistic and describes a latent leader.

l White: metal (day master and friend star)

l Black: water (expression star)

l Green: wood (money star, her father and wealth)

l Red: fire (career star, authority)

l Yellow: earth (knowledge star)

Her saju has red and green elements in her early days. This explains the strong influence of power and her father (or money). It also implies that she pursues authority and wealth a lot. Explicitly, the fire element (red) emits strong energy and represents a good relationship with the day master, yin metal, as if it sheds splendid light for the sharpness of the knife. According to this saju structure, the day master can achieve power easily with fatherly support and money. The wood element, representing the money star, is positioned in the time pillar, which suggests her wealth later in life. But it clashes with this year’s energy, metal. The water element in her 10-year luck pillar also clashes with the fire element that represents authority.

She would be taken down by public opinion (water element), lose most of her assets (green element) and the damage to her reputation will also be serious enough to lead to the loss of health as well.
