Myongji Hospital in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, has won a contract to manage medical centers in Mongolia, the hospital said Sunday.

Under the project organized by the Gyeonggi provincial government, the hospital will help its Mongol counterpart establish medical infrastructure including building hospitals.

A team of experts from the hospital will visit national hospitals in Bayangol in Ulaanbaatar next month as well as 21 other community centers there to better understand the specific needs of the local people.

The project will include training medical staff there, developing medical education programs, as well as setting up infrastructure for remote medical services.

“We hope we can be of great help for Mongolia in implementing an advanced medical system,” Myongji Medical Foundation Chairman Lee Wang-jun said.

“We also plan to write a report and conduct studies about the project to boost cooperation between the two parties in the long term,” he added.

With the aim to build an international health center in Bayangol by the end of 2016, the two has been building partnership since early last year.

The hospital opened its office in Bayangol last November, and invited a Mongolian girl, who suffered from cerebral palsy, jointly with the Gyeonggi provincial government for free operations for her in December.
