Kwang Dong Pharmaceutical adopted a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system last week to better deal with global market fluctuations, the company said Thursday.

The system is designed to foster interconnection among marketing, distribution, manufacturing, purchasing, management, accounting and human resources departments.

“The nine-month research and development of the system since April has been successful,” the firm’s President and CEO Choi Sung-won said.

He added the new ERP-based business process would enhance management efficiency.

“The ERP-based system will help us revolutionize the existing information management system. It will allow us to better cope with rapid changes in the global market,” Choi said.

The pharmaceutical company aims to increase brand awareness in the global market, with an aim of “2020 Triple 1,” which stands for 1 trillion won in company value, 1 trillion won in sales, and a 10 percent operating profit.

“I believe the ERP will deliver what we expect. The system enables real-time, automatic management of stock, and will ultimately bring the company maximum profit,” he added.

Mo Koa-kyoon, manager of the project, said the new comprehensive system would raise the brand profile by fostering improvement in marketing, manufacturing and accounting.

“With system automation as our primary goal, we adopted a mechanism that can broadly cover all aspects in business and lead to effective evaluation of the stability of the system,” he said. “The system will also help us micro-manage our business, thereby reacting to business needs in a swift manner.”

Kwang Dong has worked with BSG Partners on the project.
