Casio introduces GPW-1000

Casio has launched the first hybrid radio-controlled, solar-powered version of its G-SHOCK wristwatch, the GPW-1000, a model designed for those who frequently travel abroad. As it receives both radio and GPS signals, with the touch of a button users can get the exact time of the place they are located. The watch also automatically sets itself to summer time. The GPW-1000 has G-SHOCK’s durability, but incorporating sapphire glass, is a little more luxurious than existing models. For more information, visit www.gcosmo.co.kr.

The Plaza presents Bib’Art Wine Collection

The Plaza’s cafe and bar The Lounge is presenting Bib’ Art Wine Collection, an exclusive line of wine from the Mediterranean region of southern France, through Dec. 31.

Also referred to as “Le Benjamin de Puech-Haut,” it is well known for its artistic designs on oak barrels.

Red wine including shiraz and grenache is also served.

Prices are 300,000 won for a three-liter mini wine barrel available for takeout and 20,000 won per glass.

Guests also can visit The Lounge during weekday happy hours from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. to enjoy a canape buffet and Le Benjamin wine, draft beer and whiskey for 40,000 won per person(including VAT).

Park Hyatt Seoul offers Timber House promotion

Park Hyatt Seoul’s The Timber House is presenting a special promotion featuring a wide selection of exquisite dishes and premium beverages at 68,000 won (including VAT) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays during the holiday season. In addition, the “Festive Japanese Buffet,” which quality Japanese cuisine served buffet-style and a glass of Louis Roederer champagne, will be offered at 120,000 won on Dec 24. Moreover, from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. throughout December, live jazz performances featuring Christmas carols will be staged. On New Year’s Eve, guests will be able to enjoy a countdown event with a special performance by jazz musicians.

Herald Design Market opens at DDP

The Herald Design Market 2014 is running from Nov. 26 to 30 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). With “healthy lifestyle, healthy designs” as its motto, it promotes the following three values: natural, organic and wellbeing.

The design festival features lifestyle design items such as home products as well as healthy food. Opening hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission is free.

Seoul Design Festival held at COEX

The 13th Seoul Design Festival, sponsored by Design House, is being held at Coex Hall B from Nov. 26 to 30. This year’s theme is “Healthy Design for a Balanced Life.” The exhibition consists of designs from design businesses, specialty design companies and up-and-coming designers. There are also additional events such as the Seoul Design Spot tour and a design seminar. Opening hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the admission fee is 10,000 won.

S.Pellegrino to host young chef contest

Italian water brand S.Pellegrino is hosting the S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2015 and invites young chefs to compete in the upcoming year. Those under 30 who have more than a year of restaurant work experience are qualified to apply. Each applicant must send an application and a recipe of his or her signature dish to www.finedininglovers.com by Dec. 15. The applicants will then be selected by Italy’s renowned international cuisine school ALMA using the five criteria of ingredients, technique, creativity, artistic value and expression. The applicants’ signature recipes will be displayed at the S.Pellegrino Talent Award ceremony.
