The 15th S/S Seoul Fashion Week took place for six days from Oct. 17 through Oct. 22 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
Seoul Collection, featuring the works of noted domestic designers such as Lie Sang-bong and Gee Choon-hee, consisted of 55 shows, while Generation Next, a platform for up-and-coming designers, put on 25 shows.
Here is W’s roundup of looks from Seoul’s runway worth noting for the upcoming spring/summer season.

JAIN SONG
Expose more skin in the upcoming spring and summer but in a less apparent manner by utilizing sheer fabric, mesh and lace.
Mesh and sheer fabric were central elements to J Apostrophe’s designs, as they weaved their way into tops, dresses and manifested as puffy skirts. Jain Song’s feminine collection made ample use of lace to create see-through trench coats, shorts, tunics and maxi skirts. BYUNGMUN SEO incorporated mesh into jacket sleeves, tops and caps.

KIMSEORYONG
Figure-hugging skinny fits are not yet over, but baggy was increasingly visible this season.
CARUSO showcased boxy jackets and wide-legged pants of varying lengths; from cropped at the ankle to floor-sweeping. KYE also presented oversized shirts; yet for both collections baggy was paired with fitting to create a balanced look.

MUNSOO KWON
Stripes ran down jackets and pants, circled maxi dresses and skirts and peeked out of pleated hemlines this season. Shorter lines made bold statements on outfits.
Vertical stripes were a signature look for ROLIAT ― the lines on relaxed jackets and pants created a homey, pajama feel. The studio K gave off a nautical sort of vibe from its white dress with a blue and white pleated hem, maxi dress of alternating lines of blue and finely striped white suit. Groundwave featured graph-like shapes on baggy sweatshirts and jackets and Steve J & Yoni P accentuated its busily-printed ensembles with bold black bars.

KAAL E. SUKTAE
Orange popped up as a highlighting tone for a number of collections.
Amid the toned-down color spectrum of VanHart di Albazar’s designs were splashes of bright orange, which appeared as tailored jackets as well as a checkered pattern on white shorts. MUNSOO KWON added sparks of orange in his collection of sporty looks as seen in the cropped pants, and hints of the color were visible on inner linings of jackets as well. Neon strips of orange also speckled leather jackets, shirts and mesh dresses of KAAL E. SUKTAE’s mostly monochrome collection.

KWAK HYUNJOO
Clouds, butterflies, eyes, flowers and leopard prints dotted the collections that were more colorful this season.
Prints featuring dreamy clouds and fluttering butterflies took center stage at LIE SANGBONG’s show of mystic fantasy. Eyes were Kwak Hyunjoo’s signature print while floral motifs bloomed in Jain Song’s collection. Bolder prints were seen at pushBUTTON, which incorporated a blue leopard print, as well as KYE, which featured a fiery print visualizing a volcanic eruption.
