Listen

Corn Silk Brightening Black Mask, Kwang Dong Household and Healthcare’s latest beauty mask, has been released on Wemakeprice, Korea’s social commerce market, a Kwang Dong official said Thursday.

Each mask contains 172 milligrams of corn silk extract, which was found to be helpful in brightening the skin according to the company’s research, the official said.

Last year, a research institute operated by Kwang Dong Pharmaceutical, Kwang Dong Household and Healthcare’s parent company, found that corn silk extract decreased the formation of melanin in skin cells by 37.2 percent, making the product more effective than the widely used Arbutin.

The new mask also contains niacinamide, part of the vitamin B group, which is known to be a skin whitener, and adenosine, an anti-wrinkle ingredient.

Ingredients such as mineral oil, benzophenone, talc and artificial pigments were not included, the official noted.

After successfully launching corn silk tea in the market, the company is conducting diverse research to develop more products from corn silk extract.
