People have paid special attention to moving house since olden days. It was because where and how they located themselves had significant influence on their lives. It is applied not only to a house but other types of buildings such as offices, schools and restaurants.
For instance, there were preferred moving seasons. It used to be either spring or fall when most people traditionally plan and do the actual move. This could have been just for climate reasons.
Although people may move at any time and easily adjust to substantive conditions nowadays, they still try to pick an auspicious day in order to prevent any undesirable misfortune, which is considered to be important in one’s life.
Many people ask me when the most propitious date is, but actually it is the direction and place as well as the time that they should pay attention to.
One can improve their current residence by applying appropriate feng shui cures. We often talk about ways to decorate our front doors, for example, whether to put mirrors on them or not and how to organize objects in specific parts of the house.
However, it would be a more fundamental measure to select the right site for our habitation in times of relocation. Theoretically there is no ultimate fortunate direction and site. It is rather comparative to an individual situation, and saju can be a primary factor to determine one’s lucky direction.
Considering the intricacy of discerning one’s own lucky site, we should think about other more general circumstances. They are actually not a special area of expertise but more like common sense.
First of all, look around the surrounding structures, how they are shaped, how much larger they are and whether there are any pointed edges facing yours. Of course, you should keep away from those harmful ones. Sharp and angular objects can cause killer energy. Instead the neighboring buildings should be situated mildly to embrace your position.
Second, see the flow of streets and mountains around if any. The streets can be a passage or aisles and mountains are compared to the walls and large furniture.
T-junction road creates a poison arrow and hits your entrance. Negative energy is generated by the curvature of an elevated road outside. Fast moving highways emit harmful qi, too.
I have mentioned the names of such places in my previous writings. If you have particular aspirations in your mind, it is highly recommendable to choose a place with a corresponding and promising name.
Last but not least, you always have to investigate the state of the antecessors whenever applicable. This is so for your workplaces as well as your home.
In this similar sense, there is a saying that it is best to move into an area where the rich are gathered. Property values go up if the location is resided in by celebrities and chaebol.
Unfortunate incidents experienced by former residents may continue to curse successors because of the peculiar energy emitted by the site.
One of my students told me that she and her family experienced successive mishaps after moving to her new house. The husband had heart surgery and she suffered from depression. This shows why choosing the right place is so important.
If the previous occupant was promoted or realized significant achievements while working in the place, take it over and don’t hesitate to secure his desk and chair.
There has been a boom in real estate auctions as people make big profits from them. I am against this idea. Houses put up for auction are usually the result of bankruptcies or other types of failure. Why would you want to pick up ruined energy?
Some may earn money by this type of investment but it’s not a healthy way and you will have to allow for misfortune.
