Classes on knee arthritis

Konkuk University Medical Center in Seoul will hold a class on knee arthritis at 2 p.m. on Jan. 23.

Prof. Oh Kwang-jun at the hospital will give a lecture on diverse treatments for the disease, including knee cartilage regeneration and artificial joint replacement.

The class is open to all for free, and the participants will get a small gift. For more information, call (02) 2030-7061~5.

Jaseng Hospital of Oriental Hospital in southern Seoul is also planning a class on healthy knees, at 11 a.m., Jan. 21. A doctor of Korean Oriental medicine at the hospital will give tips on how to maintain joints healthy in daily life, including stretching and good diet.

Multiple sclerosis clinic at SNU Hospital

Seoul National University Hospital in downtown Seoul said that it has opened a clinic specializing in multiple sclerosis and myelitis.

Prof. Kim Sung-min at department of neurology of the hospital will be in charge of the clinic which will be open on every Monday afternoon.

As the disease requires thoroughly planned and continuous treatment and management, the clinic will limit the number of daily patients to 25. The clinic will also offer patients opportunities to participate in diverse clinical test of new drugs.

Roche Korea appoints new head

Mike Crichton, Roche Korea general manager

Roche Korea said that it appointed Mike Crichton as the new general manager.

Crichton has accumulated vast experience in sales and marketing since he joined Roche Group in 2003, including leading global marketing of anti-cancer drugs. He recently headed Roche Indonesia for two years, where he got recognition for leadership. Before joining Roche, he worked at Servier and Novartis, building up over 15 years’ experience in multinational pharmaceutical companies.

“Korea is considered as key market within Roche Group and I am very excited to assume this important role...I will also focus my efforts to strongly position Roche Korea as a trusted and respected corporate citizen,” he said.
