A class on chronic renal failure will be held at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital in Seocho-gu, southern Seoul, at 2 p.m. on July 23.
In chronic renal failure, patients slowly lose the kidney function over time, becoming unable to remove waste and excess water from the body through the organ. The patients will need dialysis or a kidney transplant.
The topics will include the relation between blood glucose level and renal failure, tips on low-sodium diet and others to help people’s understanding of the disease and treatment.

Asan Medical Center said it would open a robot surgery training center on July 22, which will be the fourth such center in Asia. In robot surgery, the doctor sits at a console and remote controls the robot arm for surgery. It provides bigger view while incision is smaller, enabling precise surgery and quicker recovery.
Equipped with the Da Vinci surgery robot for training, the center will train doctors with robot surgeries on animals and attending robot surgeries by Asan Medical Center professors who are experts in the method. The class is open for not only local doctors but also doctors from overseas.

Kyunghee University Hospital in Gangdong, eastern Seoul, said it is looking for people with chronic neck pain to participate in joint clinical research with doctors of Korean Oriental medicine.
Participants in the study should be aged between 18 and 65 and have been suffering the pain for over three months. They will get up to eight or nine treatments during the three week session. They will get counseling as well as transportation expenses.
