One of a saju master’s important tasks is to name a person or a company. It can be for a baby or an adult. They are bynames, pen names including renames. In order to make an appropriate and lucky name, a practitioner should read one’s saju to analyze the energy structure and how each star is composed. It is to protect and replenish the feeble energy and add the missing one subject to the weakness and strength of saju elements. For example, if a baby was born with the wood day master without any water element, we should add the fluent water energy to his or her name.
For a baby, one may want just a happy life in overall factors. In Korean custom, there is a special ceremony on one year’s birthday to present threads, pencils and money and to watch which item the baby grabs. It is to wish the baby’s longevity, academic achievement and wealth as three major fortunes. Nowadays parents put some modernized items such as a judge’s gavel, microphone, stethoscope or golf balls to pray for a promising future. But in general, they just wish a harmonized life regardless of any occupation.
When it comes to an adult they want to rename, there is a specific reason for it and his or her saju must be examined more closely to search the fortune factors. Someone may want popularity, while others business profits.
My close acquaintance changed her name couple of years ago. She had been a fitting model and hardly sold herself in her circle. She had straightened her teeth and tried to get plastic surgery to draw public attention to herself. But it wasn’t easy to stand out. After several years of working as an unknown model, she became one of Koreas top models. Since last year she has got more opportunities and appeared in many famous television shows. She thinks it was owing to changing the name.
With respect to a baby’s name, I read the parents’ saju as well as the baby’s. The first priority is to make the baby’s life happier and as harmonious as possible. However it is also important to know the parent’s saju because they provide critical factors to the baby’s growing environment. It would be very unfortunate for both, the parents’ and baby’s life if they are not compatible each other. I also confirm the family environment including their culture and occupational preference if any.
Here is saju of a man who regrets not having changed his name. He is the succeeding grandson of a great family. In the past, each family wanted sons to carry on their family name. However, for some reason, his family barely had sons to succeed. He also had let his brother go in his youth and became an only heir. He had two sons from his marriage, but lost one. As he is getting old, aged over 80, he himself is not so healthy now and worrying about his son and heir, despite of all the financial success and social reputation he achieved.
What we can read from his saju is that he is a man of great resolution. His day master is yang metal born in the same element. However it is clashed with a neighboring element. It reveals a health problem, especially related with the liver. For the solid metal day master, like him, what is needed most is a fire element, which can refine the raw metal. He has the precious fire element but its pillar connotes physical damage.
When I explained about his saju structure, especially the fire element and how much it means to his destiny, he groaned and told me his important responsibility in his family and the misfortune he and his ancestors experienced for their sons and heirs. There also was an episode he experienced with a great fortune teller in his thirties. The fortune teller advised him to change his name to have strong fire energy. At that time, he declined because he couldn’t change the name given by his father. Now that he understood why the great fortune teller offered that way, he regrets not taking his advice. If he had been given the reasons why, he would have followed the advice.
One doesn’t have to change the name officially if the situation is not available. In some cases, it can be quite cumbersome. Nevertheless, they still can use the new name for other purposes, such as for the signature and pen name, and so on.
