Listen

The Severance Hospital opened the Avison Biomedical Research Center in the hospital complex in Seoul, Wednesday. It was completed after 30 months of construction and is the biggest biomedical research center in the country. Equipped with animal laboratories, operating rooms and an imaging center, the Severance Hospital said that it plans to further bolster research. The center was named after Dr. Oliver Avison, a medical missionary from Canada who opened the hospital in 1904 with funds from Louis Severance, a philanthropist in the United States. / Courtesy of Severance Hospital
