People’s attitude toward oriental philosophies, such as saju, feng shui and face readings, project various aspects related to their own interests and situations. There are distinctive atmospheres among students who attend feng shui, face reading and saju classes. The most serious sentiment is about saju, compared to the others. It is owing to the perception that saju reveals the enigma of our given fates, which can’t be altered by whatever possible effort or manipulation.

One of my students at saju class had an extraordinary experience. Since the first day I saw her, she has been gloomy and always had obscure concerns.

Upon plotting her saju, I could understand why she was rarely cheerful. She was born with the yang water energy in the month of water element. It is like a deep blue sea that contains lots of living creatures. People of water day master are wise and thoughtful but they contain darkness inside the profound depth. In her case, water elements comprise her largest portion along with two damp earth elements next to them. They needed to have been supplemented by fire energy, either yang or yin, in order to shed light or to add warmth. Unfortunately, she didn’t have any. She has wood elements by which she can live but without sunshine, it is just muddy and inconsequential to grow plants.

In her actual life, she has three children and her husband is a promising expert in his field. She came from a well-to-do family but she always thought she was unfortunate and there was no money in her pocket. As she studied saju, she found it explained her life exquisitely well.

One day, she came in with a very bright face she had never previously showed. She knew what the deficient energy in her saju was ― it was fire. Hoping to get her exact birth record, she visited the hospital where she was born to check her exact birth hour. She had been told by her mother it was 8:30 a.m. but it turned out to be 9:30 a.m. according to the record at the hospital. To her joy, that changed her time pillar to retain strong fire energy. The fire represents her father as well as wealth.

After that day, every day we met, she brought more good news about her life. One day, she said she might get a great inheritance from her father. Another day, she said her daughter had been admitted to enter a prestigious university. Day by day, she became animated and even the color of her clothes became brighter.

I do not think all her positive changes were caused just by the saju. There is a certain auto-suggestion from saju readings, because it is considered something one is born with. Everybody, regardless of their competency, family background and effort, lives under the influence of their given destiny. After having changed her time pillar, she was able to see an optimistic side of life.

I still have faith there shouldn’t be any misleading to fabricate the given saju letters as we can’t lie about our birthdays just in order to improve our destinies. For this reason, I have criticized any fortune tellers who tried to delude or change the saju, which is usually accompanied by money. This woman’s case may be an extraordinary one, but we still need to know our destiny even if it reveals negative fortune. After facing the truth, we can take the next steps to move forward.

Since it is crucial how we perceive our lives, I am very careful to convey the accurate saju readings and try to coach the person to find a counter plan in order to bring out the best of one’s potential fortune.
