(127) Power, the name of poisoned chalice

Listen

Based on the birth year, month, day and time, we are able to get the four pillars of destiny, which consists of heavenly stems and earthly branches. One’s personality is characterized by a day stem ― heavenly sign, then, the life progresses its paths on the axis of the day master.

The characteristic of day masters, however, is not simply one of five elements but is delicately defined by a month branch. The month branch is generated by a climate of one’s birth. So the weather, place, humidity, and so on are all mingled in one’s saju, especially in a month branch. The other letters are named by the five elements generation and restraint circulation respectively.

The related cycles can be diagramed below.

According to this theoretical system, we are able to see certain pattern in saju. The ruling pattern can easily be inferred by even beginners. Here we may relate them as follows;

Wealth cycle: businessmen, making a fortune

Power cycle: politicians, leaders, reputation

Resource cycle: intellectuals, respect, knowledge

Output cycle: artists, performers, athletes, teaching

Of course, our lives are not simply classified to one ruling cycle. Instead they are complicated and a lot of mixed combinations are seen in actual lives. For example, the saju of Steve Jobs shows the mixture of Resource and Output and that of Admiral Yi Sun-shin has the mixture of Resource and Power, and so on.

In reading year fortune of 2010 and 2011, I explained that these two years have a combination of metal stem and wood branch, while the only difference is either yin or yang. Referring to the five element relationship, it is a year of wood chopped by metal. The positive aspect can be expected as powerful leadership or making good fortune. However the reality is opposite. The wood is not merely threatened by the metal in these two years. On the other hand, the wood is overpowering the metal stem. We call this combination the year of metal whose power is depressed by wood.

In this regards, repeated global political protests were already foreseen by saju.

Here is a saju of Muammar al-Gadhafi, born on June 7, 1942, who has been the leader of Libya since 1969.

Being born with yin metal day master suggests that he has energy of a sword. It is strict, sharp and sometimes brutal. The ruling energy that determines his life path is power cycle, which is shown by strong fire element in month and year pillars. According to age span analysis, he’s got the powerful political stance since he was in thirties. Also, the yang fire makes a favorable chemistry with yin metal day master.

When the yin metal (sword) has yang fire (bright light), we usually evaluate that one will achieve the power in good relationship with the day master. On top of that, the strength of fire energy is supported by wood day branch.

Traditionally, it is said that the combination of yin metal, yang fire and yang water is favorable for leaders. It is owing to the premise that the sword is cleaned by water and shined with its brightness and sharpness by lights.

Now, the problem of Gadhafi’s saju is the fire energy, power that accounts for too much. In Confucius teaching, to go beyond is as wrong as to fall short. Different from other dictators who were dispelled from their power either by public protests or by other external power, Gadhafi would cling to power more than ever.

Looking at his 10-year luck cycle, he will get water stem and earth branch pillar from his age 70. The water will extinguish his fire and this can also be covered by earth.
