(106) Decoding heavenly and earthly signs

Listen

By Janet Shin

Reading saju is a method of decoding the heavenly and earthly signs in the four pillars from one’s birth date, in order to learn the intricacies of one’s inner-self, fortune and the pursuits of one’s life, to understand the truth of life.

However, unlike other methods of fortune telling, saju requires the analysis of the relationships between the four pillars (comprising eight components) and to understand the order of nature. While one may receive the desired answers from saju, it is possible that they could turn out to be false, if not reached through a thorough and systematic procedure. In order to avoid mishaps, one must approach saju sincerely and diligently.

In this week’s column, a few example saju theories will be discussed on how to grasp determining the structure of one’s fate.

How then, do we explain the structure of saju readings? First of all, the month branch constitutes the major environmental energy of one’s fate, so we must examine saju from this.

1. If one of the four stems (the year, month, day and time of birth) has the same element as the month branch, it is called ``penetration,’’ and it determines the structure of the saju.

2. If no inclusion from the month branch repeats in the stems, the normal energy is considered the determining structure.

3. The structure needs to be characterized from a ``healthy’’ element, so elements that conflict do not result in a good structure.

When determining structure, the below aspects are to be considered.

1. Structure and the determining elements need to be as strong and healthy as possible. This enables the day master to achieve certain success in one’s life path.

2. Favorable elements need to be supported and unfavorable elements must be restrained

Below are the summarized meanings of structure and terminology:

1. ``Structure’’ is an environment and field of activity.

2. The ``useful agent’’ denotes one’s capability and competence.

3. A favorable element is something that supports the useful agent.

4. An unfavorable element is something that disrupts the process and creates trouble.

5. If the structure is a body, then the useful agent is the mind. If the structure is a car, the applicable useful agent is the driver. If the structure is a container, the applicable agent is its purpose and where it is used.

6. If the structure is not strong and clear, one’s occupation, career and social status in life will not be favorable to success.

7. It is more advantageous if the determining element for a structure is positioned in the month or year stems, as it lends itself toward good fortune.

8. It is better to follow a strong structure or strong useful applicable agent as much as possible.

The above guidelines are valuable when applying them to saju. You may tell if one is in politics, business or the intellectual realm, according to their saju structure. Many people will also combine the realms of two or more, for example, to be the intellectual business man or a businessman turned politician.

Here is an example of the saju of a man born May 27th, 1990, at 10a.m. Seeing his saju, the day master is revealed as yang water, which takes form as lakes or oceans. He was also born in the month of yin fire (May). Without accurate knowledge of the saju structure, one may easily assume that this person would pursue wealth and money (red) as his life goal. But as we delve deeper, we can see that the metal element in the inclusion of the fire month branch is connected with the metal stems of the month and year pillars.

Most people are curious as to which career they should pursue. Teachers, for example, may question whether teaching is their calling in life.

The above saju is characterized as having a ``knowledge structure,’’ which is what he should pursue in life. However, it is still true that he has a lot of energy toward money stars, though his fortune is not favorable as expected. Because of excessive fire energy, pursuing academics and degrees are essential to overcoming obsession with wealth.

It is imperative for everyone to choose the right life path if possible. And if we could decode the signs of one’s birth correctly, life’s answers could be revealed by saju.

In the following columns, we will review the saju of global leaders, in order to better understand saju structures, in an attempt to find the consistencies between their readings and lives. We will then review the saju of a business tycoon later, to compare the structural differences between businessmen and politicians.

Look for your saju to see whether you are on right track of your fate.
