A series of outdoor performances have been arranged free of charge at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts and Seoul Forest to provide people cultural experiences during spring.
For people with little time to spare for theater, a lunch performance has been featured on weekdays since April 10 in the small back garden of the center.
The 2007 Sejong garden festival will last until May 5, in which performing arts companies and bands such as the Seoul Metropolitan Musical Theater, jazz band Lazy Monday, fusion percussion group Drum Cat and Choseungmi Ballet Corp. are scheduled to appear on the stage in the small garden.
Moreover, the stage is open to anyone who wants to perform as the center is receiving applications for the venue. The center will select performers and bands to demonstrate their artistic talents on a designated day between May 7 and Oct. 10.
If you have no time to take a long lunch break, the 2007 Sejong starry night festival will provide another free option. A total of 19 performances and concerts will be held on weekdays from May 7 to June 1 at 8 p.m. on a temporary stage in front of the center.
Musical performances ranging from classical and traditional music to rock & roll and yodeling will inspire people up on their way home and elevate their spring moods. Rock band LazyBone, Latin music band Karibe, electric string female trio Shine and yodel group Kim Hong-chul and Friends will perform.
Other shows include dance performances ranging from classical ballet to the unbelievable popping moves of B-boys and a gala concert of beloved selections from popular musicals.
Every Friday at 8 p.m. from April 27 to Oct. 5, a total of 24 concerts and performing arts will be also presented on the outdoor stage at Seoul Forest. Folk music duo Tree Bicycle, rock bands No Brain and Bella Maphia, vocal group Yohaeng Sketch (travel sketch), and electric string crossover trio Elec Cookie will entertain visitors.
The Sejong center is located near Kwanghwamun Station on subway line 5, while Seoul Forest is near Ttuksom Station on subway line 2.
