Violinist to host classical music show

Violinist Shin Zi-a, 28, will host “The Concert” on the Korean Broadcasting System, which will introduce various musical genres, such as classical, jazz and cross-over styles. This is the first time she has taken to the microphone on stage instead of her violin.

Shin was the first-prize winner of the Long-Thibaud International Violin Competition in Paris in 2008, and captured third-place at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium in 2012.

Shin’s first show premiered on June 3, featuring pianist Paik Hae-sun, soprano Kim Eun-kyung and the Abel Quartet.

The new host said she is enjoying the show as it provides her an opportunity to learn about different kinds of music, and at the same time to talk with people from various musical backgrounds.
