Top musicians work on ‘The Producers’ soundtrack

The much-hyped drama “The Producers” is known for its glamorous cast and high-profile producers and now features top vocalists Lee Seung-chul, Baek Ji-young and Kim Bum-soo on its original sound track, Sony Music Entertainment Korea said Monday.

Lee’s “Darling” and singer Kim Yeon-woo’s “To Be With You” topped the charts after the first two episodes of the drama aired over the weekend.

The album features 15 songs and will be released online May 23. It will be available in stores, May 26.

The comedy melodrama featuring Kim Soo-hyun from the drama “My Love from the Star” revolves around the lives of producers at the entertainment department of KBS.

Lee Seung-chul to leave Superstar K

Singer Lee Seung-chul, who has been leading the judging panel on the popular audition program “Superstar K” since 2009 will leave the position, said the program’s host CJ E&M, Monday.

Lee gained popularity for straight forward and sometimes biting remarks while judging the participants since the program’s first episode.

The veteran singer decided to concentrate on his music career as this year marks the 30th anniversary of his debut. Lee will release his 12th album next Tuesday.

Season seven of Superstar K is set to air on cable TV channel Mnet this fall and auditions will take place until July 5 in nine cities across Korea and four regions abroad.
