The Seoul International Women's Association (SIWA) is holding its 31st SIWA Bazaar on Nov. 17 at the Grand Hilton Seoul, Hongeun-dong, northern Seoul.
Members from more than 40 countries, including Egypt, Greece, Japan and New Zealand, will participate in this annual event, offering various programs and a bazaar where visitors can get a glimpse of other cultures and also purchase food and presents for friends and family.
The venue will be packed with booths presenting products like handmade candles, cheese, wine, chocolate and even Christmas ornaments. Take a bite of some of the food prepared by the members and also enjoy cultural performances.
``The SIWA bazaar is not just about selling products at a cheap price. It's arranging as much donations as possible through cultural exchanges in products, food and tickets,'' SIWA said through a press release.
Founded in 1962, SIWA is an organization consisting of more than 500 members from 50 different countries. The bazaar is the association's biggest event and is held every November. It's aimed at bringing cultural exchange to the public and also helping underprivileged families and children through the proceeds. According to the association, the event is a lively place where children can visit and practice their English with the organizers and other guests. Out of the association's 2 billion won in proceeds last year, the bazaar generated 35 percent.
The event will also offer a special ``Dream Lottery'' with prizes such as two business class tickets to Paris. The proceeds will be donated to various welfare centers in Korea.
