The lives of North Korean workers in China have not improved due to the amount of money they have to pay their government, the U.S.-based Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported Wednesday.
Citing a report published by the Beijing branch of the Korea International Trade Association, RFA said that the monthly income of North Korean workers in China has increased to over $400 from $245-260. But their net salary came to $80-100 a month because they paid about 70-80 percent of it to the government to show their loyalty.
North Korean authorities even embezzled the workers’ money paid by Chinese firms, lowering the quality of their food, the report said.
