President Lee Jae Myung said Wednesday that he and U.S. President Donald Trump held a 90-minute discussion on peace on the Korean Peninsula and the Korea-U.S. alliance during the Group of Seven (G7) summit, where Trump also invited Lee and first lady Kim Hea Kyung to play golf.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, after boarding his flight home from Europe, Lee shared a photo with Trump and said the two leaders spent about 90 minutes talking during the G7 leaders' dinner in Evian-les-Bains.

"During dinner with President Trump, we had an in-depth conversation for about 90 minutes about peace on the Korean Peninsula and Korea-U.S. relations, and made significant progress," Lee wrote.

"Perhaps he remembered receiving the pen I was using during our first summit," Lee wrote. During a summit at the White House last August, Trump reportedly asked for the pen Lee had used to sign the guestbook, and Lee gave it to him.

According to Lee, Trump also raised the possibility of playing golf together with Lee and first lady Kim Hea Kyung. Lee said Kim secured a "pinky promise" from Trump during the dinner conversation and that the U.S. president reiterated the invitation at the summit's closing luncheon the following day.

"I thought it was just a passing remark, but it seems I may need to prepare," Lee wrote.

The remarks added to a series of friendly interactions between the two leaders during the summit. South Korean media reported that Lee personally introduced the first lady to Trump after a concert hosted by the French organizers, saying "my wife," and that the two leaders sat next to each other during the official G7 dinner.

Lee thanked Trump for his "special consideration" and said the Korea-U.S. relationship remains "strong and enduring."
