Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol will hold talks with his Japanese counterpart, Satsuki Katayama, later this week to discuss ways to strengthen financial and economic cooperation, Koo's office said Thursday.
The 10th Korea-Japan finance ministers' meeting will take place in Tokyo on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Koo plans to explain the Seoul government's key policy directions, including its artificial intelligence (AI) transition vision and efforts to revitalize the country's capital markets, the ministry said.
The two sides also plan to discuss a range of issues, including the recent situation in the Middle East, as well as their respective economic conditions and policy responses.
Ahead of the meeting, Koo will hold an investment briefing on Friday for Japanese investors and others to promote investment in the Korean economy.
The previous session of the finance ministers' meeting was held in Tokyo in June 2024.
