Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol has held meetings with his British and Japanese counterparts in Washington to discuss ways to strengthen global supply chain stability, his office said Tuesday.
Koo held separate bilateral talks with British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves and Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama on the sidelines of the Finance Ministerial Meeting on Securing Critical Minerals Supply Chains in the U.S. capital on Monday (local time), according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
In his meeting with Reeves, the two sides shared the view that international cooperation is essential to enhancing global supply chain stability and agreed to expand cooperation in areas such as the recycling of critical minerals, the ministry said.
Koo met with Katayama for the first time since taking office, exchanging views on recent global economic developments, and ways to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The ministerial gathering brought together finance chiefs from the Group of Seven (G7) to discuss the impact of global supply chain uncertainties stemming from export restrictions on rare earths and measures to stabilize critical mineral supply chains, the ministry said.
