A senior Korean diplomat met with delegates from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Seoul on Thursday to discuss ways to bolster defense cooperation with the security bloc, the foreign ministry said.

Vice Minister for Strategy and Intelligence Jeong Yeon-doo held talks with the visiting delegation on the security environment on the Korean Peninsula and potential areas for deeper cooperation.

Jeong noted that Seoul has expanded cooperation with NATO in key areas, including cybersecurity and advanced technologies, and highlighted prospects for further collaboration in the defense industry.

He also briefed the delegation on the Korean government's efforts to ease tensions and establish peace on the Korean Peninsula, while calling for the delegation's support.

The delegation expressed great interest in defense cooperation with Korea and said it would take necessary steps to help advance the Korea-NATO ties, according to the ministry.
