A U.N. committee has adopted two South Korea-led resolutions, one on the military use of artificial intelligence (AI) and another on promoting disarmament and nonproliferation among younger generations, the foreign ministry said Friday.

The U.N. General Assembly First Committee, which deals with disarmament and international security, adopted the resolutions during a meeting in New York on Thursday (local time), the ministry said in a release.

The resolutions adopted by the committee will be submitted to the U.N. General Assembly plenary session in December for final adoption.

The resolution on AI in the military domain, co-led by the Netherlands and adopted for two straight years, calls for global efforts to ensure relevant international law is applied to military uses of AI, minimize its risks and reaffirm the importance of a multistakeholder approach to such uses.

The resolution on youth, disarmament and nonproliferation calls for encouraging youth participation in related discussions and fostering education and capacity building on those issues, among other efforts.
