Second Vice Foreign Minister Kang In-sun will attend a multilateral conference in Germany this week on recovery efforts for Ukraine, Seoul's foreign ministry said Tuesday.
Kang will take part in the two-day Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 starting Wednesday (local time) to highlight the international support for Ukraine and introduce Korea's efforts in its peace initiative for the war-torn nation, ministry spokesperson Lim Soo-suk said in a briefing.
Korea participated in the conference in 2022 and 2023.
"Vice Minister Kang will emphasize the international community's solidarity and support for Ukraine and introduce Korea's implementation of the Ukraine Peace and Solidarity Initiative," Lim said.
Under the initiative, announced during President Yoon Suk Yeol's visit to Ukraine in July 2023, Korea pledged to continue its nonlethal support for Ukraine in various forms, in a contribution worth $2.3 billion in total.
Kang will also attend the ministerial meeting of the Multi-agency Donor Coordination Platform for Ukraine, a multinational donor group that Korea joined in February to add its contribution to the coordination of financial assistance and reconstruction plans for the country. (Yonhap)
